Firefox goes to (not responding) 2-3 times a day. I have to close and reopen through the task manager every time.
For the last few weeks, Firefox will all of a sudden go into (not responding) mode at random times. This has been happening 2-3 times a day. I tried the "refresh Firefox feature" and that hasn't made a difference. Any ideas?

What is your computer system and Firefox?
After starting Firefox, about how long before the problem starts?
I'm running Windows 7 and Firefox 49.0.2.
Honestly, it happens randomly. Firefox can run for hours and then not respond. Yesterday, after about an hour it went to not responding, I restarted it, and then 5 minutes later it would not respond again.
At the time the trouble starts;
What were you doing? Loading a page? Filling it out? Just sitting there?
What is on the page? Pictures, videos, plain text?
Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.
Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Restart Firefox. Are there any problems?
Sometimes I can be entering data through my online teaching portal, sometimes I can be on Facebook, sometimes I can be reading an article on a site. Sometimes I'll walk away, come back to Firefox, and it's not responding. It's really sporadic.
In the past hour, it happened twice: once when I was entering data through the teaching portal I mentioned, once when I was posting a picture on Facebook.
I've tried what you posted above and no problems as yet. If it locks up again I'll take note of exactly what I was doing.
Thanks for your help, in the meantime!
Good luck.
