I can't get "about:home" in a new tab. How do I get this and not all the other crap?

I've tried a New Tab Override 3.0 and it doesn't work. It works some and then I get Google. I want "about:home" not "about:blank" not all the boxes with crap I visited last week and not Google with it's dumb animations.

OK, I want "about:home" for new tabs created with File> New Tab or Ctrl-T or "+" at the end of the line of tables. "about:home" and nothing else.

Hi, I'm surprised New Tab Override doesn't work: If you only want the New Tab to be the same as your home page, you can use the add-on New Tab Homepage.

You may then need to restart Firefox for any changes to take effect.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you.

I'm running New Tab Homepage 0.5.2 now and it hasn't solved my problem.

OK, see if this works https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/custom-new-tab/

If not, try disabling any other add-ons (or theme) you may have in case one or more is interfering.
