Dear Fred , it looks like a "syntax " problem , people working too closely with tech systems lose touch with "actuality" i.e. adding many unnecessary options , functions or accessories, while simultaneously complicating the basic( designed "for") functions of the system in question, and rendering it virtually "useless" for said "basic" function,,, quite honestly , I was shocked by the ineptitude I see in "10", " if it ain't broke don't "fix" it,, and know your users, we probably fall into several catagories, my Indian musician friend , loves all the "gadgets" , and often messes with my "ordi" causing no end of grief!, for me its a typewriter that fell in love with a phone, a useful tool , and our means of rendering the "Soché"* visible and viable(ie the WWWnet,,, not an amusement center or a toy, while for many the opposite is true! , anyway , I have Linux ready to install , but if this is any help , lovely ! , ciao, "Geterix le mage "

Create a non-administrator account on your computer for your friend. They can make any changes they want and have no effect on your settings.
