Are you sure it's Flash?

To confirm which player YouTube is serving, you could check the context menu. Either right-click or Ctrl+click the playing video. If it's Flash, there will be a short menu with the bottom line referred to either Adobe or Flash. If you get a different menu, then it's not Flash.

If it is Flash:

You can check and change your site permission for YouTube using the Permissions panel of the Page Info dialog. You can call that up using any of these:

  • right-click/Ctrl+click a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Permissions
  • (menu bar) Tools menu > Page Info > Permissions
  • click the padlock or globe icon to the left of the site address, then ">", then More Information > Permissions

The site-specific permission for Adobe Flash should be near the top of that list.

If it's not Flash:

Most likely it's the HTML5 player. You could try the Flash Control extension, which says it handles both Flash and HTML5, to see whether that works for you. https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/flash-control/
