Updating the Adobe Flash plugin always results in a connection error

more options

Firefox cites the Adobe Flash plugin as being out of date (which has happened numerous times previously); the current version of the plugin is downloaded (as done successfully numerous times previously); this time a connection error happens. Repeating the process a few times over a few days gives the same results.

In more detail, the smaller pre-download EXE which is first downloaded from the Adobe website is able to be downloaded, but when that is run it says something like "Download will start shortly", with the download of the app itself never occurring, and a connection error message being eventually displayed.

Although it appears to be an issue with Adobe, I assume that some other Firefox users would have also experienced this problem, and would know a solution.
