I keep getting "Not Responding" constantly whenever I use the latest Firefox.

It used to be that Firefox would crash or I would get an alert about shockwave flash stalling before it would crash. Now with the latest update, I get "Not Responding" constantly. Sadly, I actually prefer the old days when Firefox would just crash or I get a shockwave flash notice. At least it didn't happen every time I used Firefox like nowadays, though it would happen at least once a day. Even then there were times when I could exit out of the affected screen without having to close out or lose all my other tabs or screens. With the "Not Responding" all my tabs and other Firefox screens immediately shutdown regardless of whether it was one tab that was the problem.

Will there be a new fix for Firefox? I'm going crazy. It's impossible to use Firefox. I'm constantly having to open and close Firefox. (Fyi, yes, I already took the various recommended steps (safe mode, uninstalling/reinstalling, etc.) to fix the issue to no avail.) There is something seriously wrong with the latest update. I know it's the latest version and not my computer, because I am on a brand new hard drive as of yesterday and I'm still experiencing the same problem with "Not Responding" as I did before on my last hard drive. What is going on?

hi, firefox developers are already on this problem. you can go to the firefox menu ≡ > help ? > about firefox - you should get an update to 41.0.1 there, which we hope will fix this issue!

Thanks for the reply and for letting me know that the Firefox developers are working on this. I just checked and I do have the 41.0.1, but I still have the problem. I did notice that I wasn't getting the "Not Responding" message as often last night as I was during the day. Hopefully, this means the issue is becoming less problematic.

Today I finally got my first Adobe Flash plugin crash message and only the affected webpage crashed leaving my other tabs untouched (thankfully). So far I haven't gotten the "Not Responding" but the day is still early and I've been careful only to use websites that I know won't trigger the "Not Responding". That said, based on previous experience it seemed every other website I went on triggered the "Not Responding".

You can check for problems with current Shockwave Flash plugin versions and try this:

Strange, but today I did not have one "Not Responding". I'm not sure if this means the problem is resolved or it was a one-off day and the problem will be resurrected tomorrow. I did have a few Flash Plugin crashes, but it was manageable and it didn't cause me to lose all my tabs and screens.

As for the Flash plug-in, I have the latest version. I think the Flash plugin-in crash is related to the "Not Responding" problem. It's interesting that "Not Responding" was replaced today with Flash crashes. Somehow I doubt this was coincidence. Hopefully, once Mozilla fully fixes the "Not Responding" problem this will also end the repeated Flash plugin crashes.

cor-el Thanks for the links. They are a good reference, though I think the Flash plug-in crashes today is part of the larger "Not Responding" problem.
