I know this question has been answered many times but after googling many solutions I still am not able to solve the issue.

Just a bit of backgound:

I bought a new windows laptop (2 weeks old) and for the first week accessing my hotmail was fine. I have only downloaded Java (latest version) and Firefox (latest version) since then. All of a sudden today, I encountered this Untrusted Connection error without an I accept the risks option. I am very sure that I have not downloaded or installed or changed any settings, security whatsoever, since the last time I was able to access my hotmail.

I have tried on other web browsers such as IE, Chrome and Safari. I have tried accessing hotmail on other computers in my house but the result is the same. It would seem that all of a sudden I was "denied" access to hotmail. The only way i can access my email is via my phone.

This is what is under the Technical Details for Firefox (default browser):

col129.mail.live.com uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for the following names: bing.com, www.bing.com, *.platform.bing.com, *.bing.com, ieonline.microsoft.com, *.windowssearch.com, cn.ieonline.microsoft.com, *.origin.bing.com, *.mm.bing.net, *.api.bing.com, ecn.dev.virtualearth.net, *.cn.bing.net, *.cn.bing.com, *.ssl.bing.com, *.appex.bing.com, *.platform.cn.bing.com, ssl-api.bing.com, ssl-api.bing.net, *.api.bing.net, www.bingsandbox.com, *.bingapis.com, bingsandbox.com, *.working-bingapis-int.com, *.staging-bingapis-int.com, *.working-bingapis-int.net, *.staging-bingapis-int.net (Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)

Would appreciate if anyone who proposes a solution could describe it in a bit more detail as I honestly am unfamiliar with more technical aspects.

Cheers!

Dear all,

The issue is resolved. Strangely, I literally did nothing. I just came back home and tried it again and it worked.

Thanks to all who read and replied!

Apologies to those who still have this problem. I am not sure what is a known solution.

I have this problem also!

There is nothing Firefox can do about this. You'll need to complain to Microsoft. They'll have to fix their cert.
