Have do I save reduced zoom size
The 'zoom feature works fine to set the page so it fits the screen. - how can I set this changed size to be permanent

Hi, Firefox should remember your zoom setting for each site you visit - there isn't a 'one size fits all' setting.
If you are referring to the new tab page specifically, you can stop that resetting when you click on a new tab by: Type about:config into the address bar, press Enter, accept the warning, scroll down to browser.newtab.preload and double click on it to change 'Value' from True to False.

Thanks It looks like it is now solved, as new pages seem to fit on the page
