Hey Tim

Excellent question! It's good that you asked here first instead of blindly following that popup bar's link. A lot of sites have misleading links to Firefox downloads. Even Google's ads on the search results page lead to false and altered versions of Firefox that have bundled malware or adware. Which is annoying and scary. I really hate Google for their evil ad practices here and infecting unsuspecting people who click the top ads that look like search results.

But in this case, that popup bar belongs to a good site called browser-update.org.

The popup link took me to: browser-update.org/update-browser.html#17@www.zintro.com

I clicked the Firefox link on its site and it correctly took me to the main Mozilla Firefox site to upgrade to the latest version. And yes there is a more secure version available. We are on version 36.0.4 now.

To get that version, follow this link: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/

If you can remember to just visit mozilla.org/firefox when you think you need to update, you will be taken to correct site everytime.

If that's still a bit too hard for you to remember, you can also press the Alt key on your keyboard when you have Firefox open. It will open a small menu at the top. Click Help > About Firefox. That will show you your version. It will also at the same check with the Mozilla site if you are up to date. If you aren't, it will automatically start a download to upgrade you to the latest version. You will see a download animation in the About Firefox window letting you know it's updating.

Overall if you are downloading Firefox for Windows, get the full offline setup from www.mozilla.org/firefox/all instead of using stub installer.
