how can i get FF to retain a username only?
IE will retain my usernames for at least several days on one of my email account servers. FF does not. I only want it to give me an option to keep usernames, not passwords.

Hello jimstr, to keep only usernames then you have to go to Tools > Options > Privacy panel > History > Firefox will > choose Use custom settings for history > check Remember search and form history [v] > click OK to save that.
Remember to UNcheck in Tools > Options > Security panel > Passwords >Remember passwords for sites [ ].

Note that details like websites remembering you (log you in automatically) are stored in a cookie. So you would have to keep such a cookie and possibly create an allow exception if you would want the server to remember you or delete this cookie to stop the server remembering you.
