Shift Key Brings up scratchpad. Also search firefox at bottom of the screen appears randomly HELP Started after the latest update
Ever since Firefox automatically updated I have 2 VERY annoying problems. 1) Just touching the Shift Key Brings up scratchpad. 2) search firefox at bottom of the screen appears and defaults without me doing anything, randomly. Please help

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode;
Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.
Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?
Then restart.
It worked for a while, but now scratchpad is coming up again when I hit the shift key

as the day went on this did not fix the issue. Notice I did not capitalize the a in as because when I hit the Shift Key it brings up Scratchpad. Do you have any other suggestions?
Just pressing the shift key, with normal programs, would not do anything. Shift, Control, and the others just add an extra bit of data when you press another key for the CPU to know a command is coming in.
There maybe a problem with the keyboard itself.
Did you still have the problem in Safe Mode?
I am thinking of just buying a new keyboard and see what happens. I find it funny that that all started with the latest Update from Firefox where you have the 3 screen modes. I Tried switching it to "Blank" but still occurs "intermittently".

Only the 1st letter would do it. However, after using a small letter it did not do it for the rest of the sentence. In any event I did an update to windows 8.1 yesterday. Since that update, I have not had this problem. Keeping my fingers crossed.
