more options

Hello,

Can anybody help me with this, I'm desperate in search for a solution. When I want to start an application that needs the plugin spoon.net, Firefox keeps saying "Spoon plugin is busy, you can stop the plugin or you can continue...". The normal "plugin does not work" message...

Already updated my drivers, reinstalled Windows 7, started Firefox in safe mode, checked my registry keys, updated the plugins, ...

This is the crash report:

Hi Benoit, Thank you for your question. Obviously the crash report only says that it has crashed because of a hang while using the spoon plugin. Is it possible to reinstall the plugin?

If you change we homepage to a different one, does it continue to crash?

more options

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} While you are in safe mode; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the tool bar. Followed by;

Windows; Tools > Options Linux; Edit > Preferences Mac; application name > Preferences

Then Advanced > General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?

Then restart.

Thanks for the answer but I already tried to reinstall the plug-in, doesn't work... What do you mean by changing the homepage? How can this help?

How can this help? If one of us was there with you, the problem could be solved in a short time. But because we aren't, we have to give you things to do to see what the reaction is. Sometimes changing one thing can give us the data we need.

I don't see a Spoon plugin on your list of plugins. Is it disabled? Please check the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. You may want to set it to "Always Activate" instead of "Ask to Activate" in case the site is impatient and does not work correctly with click-to-play.

more options

Ok, sorry. Just want to understand why it doesn't work... Tried to change the home page but the plugin still crashes

@jscher2000

Jep, plugin is installed and is set to "Always activate" but it doesn't work. When I try to upgrade the plugin and execute this .exe file, it just keeps on waiting and waiting and then explorer.exe crashes and nothings happens in Firefox. The plugin isn't upgraded... Very strange because on some computers at our company it works fine, just run the .exe file to upgrade and you get the application you want.

@FredMcD

Tried it but stil the same result, really crappy problem I gues...

Did you try Firefox Safe mode? Disable Hardware?

Can you download a new plugin from the source?

If you have any added toolbars, open the add-ons manager and disable them.

Jep, tried safe mode. How do you disable hardware?

Another plug-in is not available from the source website...

I don't have toolbars.

Nope, doesn't help either

To rule out a settings problem, could you take 3 minutes to:

Create a new Firefox profile

A new profile will have your system-installed plugins (e.g., Flash) and extensions (e.g., security suite toolbars), but no themes, other extensions, or other customizations. It also should have completely fresh settings databases and a fresh cache folder.

Exit Firefox and start up in the Profile Manager using Start > search box (or Run):

firefox.exe -P

Do not delete anything here.

Any time you want to switch profiles, exit Firefox and return to this dialog.

Go ahead and click the Create Profile button, choose a name like Sept7, and skip over the option to change the folder location. After the new profile appears in the list, start Firefox in that new profile.

Does Spoon work any better/differently in the new profile?

When returning to the Profile Manager, you might be tempted to use the Delete Profile button. But... it's a bit too easy to accidentally delete your "real" profile, so I recommend resisting the temptation. If you do want to clean up later, I suggest making a backup of all your profiles first in case something were to go wrong.

Haven'te tried this before so had a bit of hope but nope, still not working

Have you tried getting support from Spoon.net? https://support.spoon.net/

A support telephone number is listed on that page.
