how can I recover an email from old version (2.0 or 3.0) email file into a recent thunderbird version?

I have an old version (2.0 or 3.0) email folder/file and I need to recover some emails. I tryed to download an old version but these are not available. If I try to import to new version is not posible. How can I recover these emails? Does anybody have old version copy?
