Firefox’s tab overview menu is designed to help you manage and navigate your open tabs. Whether you have just a few tabs or many, this feature lets you quickly find, organize and switch tabs, providing a smooth browsing experience. This article will guide you on how to use the tab overview menu to maintain a tidy and organized browser environment, regardless of the number of tabs you have opened.

Access the tab overview menu

Click the tab icon 2 icon at the top-right corner of the Firefox window, next to the tab strip. (If Vertical Tabs are enabled, click the List all tabs Fx138VerticalListAllTabs icon in the toolbar.) A drop-down menu will appear, with some menu options and a list of all your open tabs. Each listed tab shows the title and favicon of the webpage. Manage tabs

Features available in the menu:

  • Search tabs: Allows a specific tab to be found using the address bar by entering keywords related to the tab's content.
  • Tabs from other devices: Provides access to tabs open on other devices synced with the Mozilla account. It also allows browsing to be continued seamlessly across devices. To open a tab on the current device, simply click it.
  • Close all duplicate tabs: Closes all duplicate tabs. A prompt asking for confirmation of this operation will be displayed. To proceed, click the Close tabs button. Firefox will automatically identify tabs with the same URL and keep only the last active tab open.
  • New container tab: Opens a tab in a different container, if available. This allows browsing activities to be separated by context, such as work and personal activities. For more information about Firefox containers, see How to use Firefox containers.
  • Search All Tabs: Allows a specific tab to be found using the address bar by entering keywords related to the tab's content.

  • View All Tabs: Opens Firefox View, where open and recently closed tabs, browsing history, and tabs open on other devices synced with the Mozilla account can be accessed.

Navigate tabs

  • Switch tabs: Find the tab you want to switch to and click on it in the list of tabs. The selected tab will come into focus instantly as a result.
  • Close a tab: Click the icon following the tab title to close a tab straight from the menu.
