Keyboard shortcuts (also called hotkeys) help you quickly perform common actions in Firefox, like opening a new tab, saving a page, or closing a window, without using your mouse. Hotkeys are enabled by default and available on Firefox for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Starting in version 147, you can customize dozens of Firefox keyboard shortcuts on Windows, MacOS, and Linux from the about:keyboard settings page. Replace hard-to-type or hard-to-remember hotkeys, eliminate conflicts with other software, and create your preferred set to optimize workflows.

Customize keyboard shortcuts

  1. Type about:keyboard in the Firefox address bar and press Enter.
  2. Find the hotkey you want to change by using the Search field at the top of the page, or scroll down the full list.
