Can I sync TB with my ISP's webmail, which I am told is a form of MS Exchange, some way? My ISP said it would only work with mobile devices.I want to sync my TB desktop client. Would Exquilla be up to the task? Thanks

If they don't offer IMAP access, it appears they may offer 'Exchange ActiveSync' accounts, which is Microsoft's version of IMAP. TB doesn't support it, but I believe Windows Live Mail and Outlook do, so that would probably be the only way to sync the mail over multiple devices, if you find the POP setup inadequate.

I don't know enough about ExQuilla to say if it offers anything in this case.

Hi Newbeak,

if the ISP provides access via POP or IMAP, simply create an account for that mailbox. If thunderbird knows that ISP, its very simple. If not, you only have to configure the settings yourself.

I looked in my TB account settings, and found it is a POP type access setup, but their webmail is a type of MS Exchange on the ISP's website. I could just use the ISP webmail for all my emails, but I like TB. The funny thing is that some of my emails on TB are synced, but most aren't. I'm not a techie,so you will have to dumb down your suggestions, thanks!

If you set up the account as POP type, only the Inbox is downloaded to TB, so any other folders you've created via webmail won't be seen in TB. But if (they say) the account can be truly synced with mobile devices, that suggests the account can be set up in TB as IMAP type. Ask your ISP if the settings for mobile devices are IMAP, and if so, try and set up the account in TB using those settings.

Just had a chat session with the ISP. Thought it might help if I posted it:

The settings for setting up mail with any mobile devices are POP only, IMAP will not work.

POP or Exchange.

Newbeak (19:45:57):

Okay, someone on the Mozilla forum has been offering me advice on how to sync Thunderbird with Webmail.

Syleena #9749 (19:46:51):

Ah okay, yes, you can find online help in many places, even on our own forums, however that wouldn't be something that we are actually trained in or support.

Syleena #9749 (19:47:09):

But yes, we can tell you that we suppose POP and Exchange and we do have the server names, etc
