I open my email in box deal with emails, then try to do to my spam folder. I am told there is a problem opening the folder. I then try to re open my inbox and get the same message. I have tried system restore and also installed the latest version of Firefox to no avail. I am also regularly getting messages telling me that Firefox has to close.

I am running Windows 7. Other laptops on my hub are working perfectly.

My email account is with bt.com.

Is this BT's own email, or is it really Yahoo mail with BT branding? If it's Yahoo, they have been moving servers around and not always redirecting users. You may need to delete old bookmarks and re-enter through BT/Yahoo's main page in order to get to the currently preferred server.

In case you haven't already tried this: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

Regarding messages that Firefox has to close, are those from Windows, or are you getting the Mozilla Crash Reporter dialog?

When Firefox crashes, it typically records information about what was happening at that moment. You can submit that data to Mozilla and share it with forum volunteers to see whether it points to the solution. Please check the support article "Firefox Crashes" (especially the last section) for steps to get those crash IDs, and then post some of the recent ones here.

Many thanks. I cleared cache and cookies, all seems fine now.
