Firefox requires me to sign in three or four times every day. How do I fix this?

I have a Yahoo-Verizon account, with Firefox as my browser. Three or four times a day, I get a message that I must sign in again. When I click on it to sign in, it brings up my user name and password OK, but I have to click the message before I can access the internet. I used to stay signed in for a month, now it is just for a few hours. I do not need to sign in when I first open my computer in the morning, just a few times during the day.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Thank you for all the trouble you took to respond to my problem.

I used the Microsoft Safety Scanner, Quick Scan program. It did not find any infected files and did not recommend a complete scan.

Do you still have the problem?

You can check the connection settings.

If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then try to select "No Proxy" if "Use the system proxy settings" or one of the others do not work properly.

See "Firefox connection settings":
