How do I stop my default browser from always opening on this link (http://broadband.three.ie/) instead of my requested homepage?

Firstly, my default browser was always IE before I switched to Firefox a few days ago.

My broadband provider is Three Ireland and my connection is made via a dongle that connects through a USB port.

Ever since I renewed my broadband contract I received a new HUAWEI dongle and when I turn on my computer, my internet automatically connects and opens on this page by itself : http://broadband.three.ie/ I have a requested homepage and this only opens if I close the three page and start the internet manually again.

When I switched my default browser from IE to Firefox the same thing started happening.

I have emailed Three Ireland several times and they said there is nothing they can do that it is a default setting. I think this is a fob off. Surely I am entitled to have a say on when and how my browser opens.

Can anyway advice me on this. I basically want to be able to turn on my computer and plug in dongle and manually start my internet by clicking on the Firefox icon and be brought to my homepage. Instead, I turn on my computer, plug in my dongle and the browser opens automatically and opens on http://broadband.three.ie/, not bringing me to my homepage. It is so frustrating especially when I lost connectivity and when connectivity restarts, the browser starts up in a new window even though all I have to do is refresh my existing window to take me back to where I was before connectivity is lost.

Sorry for rambling but I am so fed up of this problem.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Thanks for the reply but it didn't solve the problem unfortunately and I didn't think it would as I only downloaded Firefox for the first time a few days ago even though I have had this problem for over six months using IE.

Anything else that you think is worth a shot?
