The mouseover text doesn't show in Firefox when I pan a picture, say for xkcd.com. It flashes for a split second, but I can't read it. This feature works in IE.

The mouse-over Meta text doesn't show for any websites I know that use that information. Say for xkcd.com, I am not able to read the text when I mouse over the image while using Mozilla Firefox, my preferred browser. The text will flash for a split second, but not long enough to read. I checked the comment threads and it states this is a problem when using Google toolbar, but I don't use google toolbar, so I'm not sure what's causing this.

As long as you do not move the mouse then the text should stay visible.

If that isn't the case then check your extensions.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
