See:

You can look at the pref security.ssl.renego_unrestricted_hosts on the about:config page and add the sites that you want to allow to the string value. Separate multiple host names by a comma.

Hi What I can see can´t Firefox 8 not add the prefix < https:// > automatically When the web address ask for <gfs.nb.se> without prefix the web side only show “this side can´t be found” but when I add the prefix following presents <ccc - gfs32 – front> I have tested the address in Google Crome without prefix and it did works out. What I know, did this function works in Firefox 3.6, but I want the last editsion- If you can give me a hint how to fix it, please tell me where and how I can fix it. Regards Carl

Firefox should show the https prefix if the page is loading, but may not show it when there are problems.

You can set the pref browser.urlbar.trimURLs to false on the about:config page to see the http: protocol.

You can set the pref browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled to false on the about:config page to disable the highlighting of the domain and see the full URL more clearly.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

  • Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
  • Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
  • Preferences can be reset to the default via the right-click context menu if they are user set
  • Preferences can be changed via the right-click context menu: Modify (String or Integer) or Toggle (Boolean)

Hi I did change that proposal you gave me last time, without results. When I sign in normally to my bank, <Nordea.se>, everything works perfect, they use 128 bit encoding. But when I am trying to sign in to the same bank in a payment page, they demand 256 bit encoding. Perhaps that´s the problem Firefox 8 can´t handle. I guess it´s possible to correct this in the config consol. Anyway, the address to that website is <https://gfs.nb.se/bin/gfskort?/> if you want to use it. Regards Carl

Hi I want to correct what I said in the first place that sign in to <Nordea.se> is encrypted with 128 bit, actually it is 168 bit encoding. Carl

You need to add the domain gfs.nb.se to the security.ssl.renego_unrestricted_hosts pref to make it work.

Pref: security.ssl.renego_unrestricted_hosts
Value: gfs.nb.se

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.

Firefox has supported 256-bit for a long time even back when IE barely supported 128-bit. https://www.fortify.net/sslcheck.html
