Firefox 4.0 not responding minutes at a time in Windows 7

I've been a Firefox user for many years. Tried Firefox 4 beta for several days with no problems. Updated to 4.0 and now constant "not responding" messages which last several minutes at a time.

When I looked at the Mozilla folder on the C drive, it still said beta, even though I had installed Firefox 4 the day it came out. Actually, the folder said Beta 8, even though I think I also got Betas 9-11 and RC 1 and 2. So I guess as the older versions got overwritten, there was a lot of junk left behind. I saved my settings, uninstalled FF4 with Revo, reinstalled and have had no more of these hang-ups for several days now. This is not the first time I've had to uninstall and reinstall FF. I love it, but I guess you get what you pay for.

I switched over to Chrome and find it is much faster than Firefox and has more extensions.
