I cannot see the letters and numbers which are often used for security when sending emails from various sites.

Whenever I attempt to send an article from various sites such as from the NY Times and I am requested to type in the security numbers and letters in the box, the box is empty so I cannot send the article. This does not happen when I use Safari.
