When you use capital letters, it implies you are shouting. It's not polite to start shouting at someone you do not know and hope they will help you, so please use normal typing as it's much easier to read and understand.

I'm not sure why you have a problem navigating Thunderbird, as you have not said what you are trying to to.

When you have a problem, you need to understand that no one can see your computer and see what you are doing, so you need to supply information.

What Operating System are you using as this may effect instructions? Windows, MAC, Linux ? What version of Thunderbird are you using? Did you download and install Thunderbird from the official website: https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/all/ Or did you get thunderbird via Windows App Store, Snap or Flatpak etc ? This information will give us an idea where the computer has stored your profile by default, just in case we need to offer specific advise.

You do not 'Read Only' to be on your settings.

What 'settings' are you talking about?

You need to tell us what you are doing and what happens. I'm going to make an educated guess at this point. The only thing I can think of is you received an email with an attachment. You are trying to open that attachment - the attachment opens using 'Libre Office'. Then you want to edit that file and discover you cannot because it has opened in 'Read Only' state.

That is how any file is opened on a computer when it comes from an external source in an email. The computer opens it in a type of secure sandbox in a temporary folder, the purpose being to allow you to read it in a safe environment first.

If you want to open that file using Libre Office in a state where you can edit/modify the file, then the file must be properly saved to a folder on your computer.

You can use the right click on attachment and select 'Save as' to a specific location on computer. Then you can open the saved file and it should be in normal mode to edit at will unless the sender put a password on it to prevent editing.

You can also use right click and select 'Detach', then choose where you want to save it on computer eg: My Documents. The attachment is now actually saved on computer, in Thunderbird, clicking on that attachment will now open it in the saved location, so that attachment has become a link to where it is saved.
