Facebook stalls out hangs up
When I use Facebook with my Firefox browser the site just has to many issues. The site keeps hanging up and just sort of stalls out when I try to access messages and notifications that I download from the site. I took the suggestion of clearing my cache. That did nothing. Clearing my history didn't make a difference either. Being this problem doesn't happen with Chrome or Safari, it must be a Firefox problem. So, what more can I do to make using Facebook with Firefox a better experience? Sure would appreciate help.

jbr, After doing a lot of experimenting with my extensions, I realized the problem was the Adblock Plus and Ad Block extensions. Using the extensions uBlock and Ghostery posed NO problems though. So, being I have been using those two extensions, (AdBlock and Adblock plus for all my browsing regardless of browser, should I keep disabling them and just keep the uBlock and Ghostery extensions? What am I losing by not enabling AdBlock and Adblock plus? Can you please explain, jbr? Thank you.

Does it behave the same if you sign in using a new Private Window?
Here are some standard troubleshooting steps that may resolve the issue:
- See clearing cookies and data for the website you experience troubles with (warning: you will be logged out on this website).
- If it also does not help, try running Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode. If the problem doesn't persist, please follow the steps from this article to troubleshoot further.
- Please check if you have Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) enabled. You can do that by clicking the shield
icon in the left part of the address bar. If ETP is enabled, try disabling it.
- If nothing from the above helps, try creating a new Firefox profile and check if the issue persists there. If it doesn't, you can start copying files from your old profile to the new one to identify which one causes the issue. See this article on what files to copy.
Hello jbr, I tried starting Firefox in trouble shot mode and that solved the problem. I also tried disabling "Use recommended performance settings and Use hardware acceleration when available", which didn't make any difference with the problem. The problem persisted disabling them. So, what do you believe my problem is now when activating Firefox in safe mode seems to fix the problem, jbr? Can you please explain what I should do next to resolve the problem. Appreciate your help. Thank you.

I've marked your reply above as a solution to highlight it for other users.
All the ad-blockers you mention seem to be recommended extensions, and even one of them should be enough to block ads and trackers. Note that they should also offer wide customisation, particularly letting you choose what filter lists to enable.
Glad it lead you to eliminate the culprit.
I'll just add a general note to the above — using several different privacy or content filtering extensions on top of each other can actually cause unexpected results — just pick one or two you trust and rely on the most (with perhaps one alternative if they don't overlap in their functionality) for simplicity, and to be able to actually configure them consistently. You won't need multiple of the same kind.
jbr, Thanks for the reply. And, thanks for your help. After going trough much experimentation, I will use uBlock and possibly Ghostery adblocker for my extensions. Do you have any input on Ghostery? Is there any need to use two ad blockers? How do I use customization within those ad blockers as Deny's suggested? Again, appreciate your help in solving my Facedbook problem.
