I don't want to save my password in thunderbird, I choose to enter it manually, sometimes I open thunderbird and cancel the request for it to download messages, I have it set on "not to check mail when opened". but i have to set it on check on open just to get the dialog up, other wise the get mail button doesn't work. ie: 140.7.2esr eclipes Please Help Thanks Scott

For Thunderbird to remember your password you'd need to check the corresponding box at the password prompt. For modern OAuth2 authentication Thunderbird does not remember your account password, but an OAuth authentication token instead. There is no point not to remember that, because you'd have to go through the authentication process every time you log on to your account.

When Thunderbird didn't remember your password, then obviously this will prevent you from getting new mail.

You may also want to set a primary password, which protects any remembered account passwords. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/protect-your-thunderbird-passwords-primary-password

that's just it I don't want Thunderbird to save my password, I will choose the time to download. I understand everything that you said, and that's not my problem! If I set thunderbird to not check for new mail at open, then when I'm ready to get new mail the "GET MAIL" button at the top left does not work, it does absolutely nothing.
