I've been using Firefox on Windows 10/11 to stream video from a streaming service (BritBox). The image quality varies during a show, regularly appearing more blurry for a few seconds and then improving again. There are also regular flashes which I think are between scenes.

I spent the weekend upgrading the computer (it was long overdue) hoping that it might fix the problem but it didn't.

Last night I decided to try Microsoft Edge. Not only was there no variation of blurriness and no flashes, the video images were way way sharper.

What's going on here please? Is there an add-in to provide better quality streaming?

Turn off "Use hardware acceleration when available"?

I'll give that a try tonight and report back.

I found a trailer on BritBox and I do not see any options for video quality like on Prime. see screenshots Do you have the options when you're logged in?

Your computer... Desktop or Laptop? WiFi or Lan cable? Who are you using for DNS? If there are no quality options in Britbox, then the quality may be based on your internet speed. Did you try Firefox in Safe Mode? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/diagnose-firefox-issues-using-troubleshoot-mode#w_how-to-start-firefox-in-4troubleshoot-modesf5safe-modesf

As far as I can see BritBox provides not video quality options.

The computer is a desktop built specifically for home theatre use. The new motherboard is a gaming one and the Intel Core i5 12600 Alder Lake 6 Core 12 Thread Up To 4.8Ghz LGA1700 has a built-in GPU.

Network connection is via cable. Our router is providing DNS.

Interesting that Microsoft Edge is so much sharper without the flashes and in-and-out of focus like problem.

Firefox is fine with online TV channels.
