I have been using Thunderbird fine for years. I have a verizon.net (AOL) account. A couple of weeks ago it just stopped recognizing the password. I went into AOL and created a new password and it did not help. I downloaded a Thunderbird update did not help. Deleted password in Thunderbird did not help. Throughout all this my wifes account which is identical (also verizon) continued to work fine. Earlier this week, she tried to go in and the exact same thing happened. Will not recognize the password.

I can go directly into AOL (verizon) and access each account using the same email addresses and passwords without any problem. So we are both unable to use at this time.

Any ideas?

AOL has implemented use of APP passwords for email clients. You need to log into your AOL account, locate the security section and create an APP password for use with TB (your other password should continue to be used for webmail access).
