How do I change the default location of bookmarks back to asking where to put the bookmark

Recently Firefox change to putting my saved bookmarks somewhere instead of asking where I want my bookmark to go. So now every saved bookmark requires an 'Edit Bookmark'. This is stupid - I'm never going to want the bookmark where Firefox now assigns it. How do I go back to just being asked where I want to put the bookmark in the first place?

Hi paulgruen, Go to a bookmarked page. Click on the 3-dot button at the right end of the address bar. Select Edit This Bookmark. Check the box next to Show Editor When Saving. Click off of the box somewhere (like the toolbar) The Editor will show from then on.

I know I can edit a bookmark, I said that in my post. That's not what I'm asking.

Wow, it seems that the people who respond here don't bother to read the question.

The "Edit this Bookmark" dialog has a checkbox that makes the dialog appear each time you click the star to bookmark the current tab. If there isn't a tick for this feature then the bookmark will be created automatically in the "Other Bookmarks" folder. From your description it appears that in your case the latter is happening. That is why we suggested to check this specific setting.
