I can't get it to stop working. Only when I remove and re-install the extension, it loses the resume marker.

Thanks. I've just tested it, doesn't work. Given that I've tried three already, I suspect it must be something in my youtube settings -- although I haven't been changing anything.

There's a manual method which would test your Youtube settings:

YouTube supports adding time information to video urls so that videos start playback at the specified point in time.

All you have to do is add &t=4m42s to the video url and replace the m (minutes) and s (seconds) values. Here is a example of how this looks like:

You can then bookmark the video to resume playback at a later point in time.

A service like YouTube Bedtime provides you with the means to create these kind of urls automatically.

I saw a comment in the Video Resumer reviews that Malwarebytes AdwCleaner was finding the extension and removing it. I just ran AdwCleaner and it didn't find Video Resumer or remove it.

This got me to thinking though, that maybe your security software is preventing a good install of Video Resumer or preventing it from running properly.

Well ... All I have is Windows Defender... Have nothing installed on top of that... And the Resumer was working fine until recently.

You can try creating a "Test" Profile. This will let you know if anything is out of sorts with your default profile and whether it would be worthwhile to do a Refresh.

Type (or paste) about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter. You will see at least one Profile which says: Profile: Default User (or default-release) - This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted. That is the Profile with all of your data. Just above that, click Create A New Profile. A Profile Wizard will open. Go through the steps naming the Profile anything that you want, except Default User, of course. Below the new profile click Launch Profile In New Browser

In the first window, under Profile: Default User (or default-release), select Set As Default Profile. When you launch Firefox again, it will open your Default Profile. Close that window.

Add Video Resumer to the "Test" profile and try it out.

(The New Profile won't interfere with anything or use any resources. You can leave it if you ever want to Test something again, or, you can Remove it later.)

Alas, it is doing this again. But once in a while fixes itself unpredictably.

I mean, sometimes it almost starts at the beginning but, at the last moment, as if having changed its mind, jumps to the point where it is to resume. My hunch is that something prevent it from making this jump at other times.

That sounds like the same issue that many people were complaining of in the reviews. Another complaint was that the urls with the time marker added was causing the same problem. I wish there was some better support for that extension for you.

You know, I heard that Youtube has done some re-vamping of their site lately. It might not hurt to look around on their Help forum for similar posts.
