This is a recurrent problem when Firefox is left open a day or two and many tabs are cycled in that time. When i close Firefox it hangs a while then crashes. The worst part is that all new bookmarks are lost. This is the most frustrating part because its a bigger problem then the crashes. Also when its at this point bookmarks cannot be added or backed up or saved before the close/subsequent crash, when i try it does nothing. This has happened the last few versions of Firefox I submit about the above statement on every crash report related to his but have never heard back (which is under the same e-mail address as this account)

This is a huge problem that interferes with my work.

Hi, the crash reports if sent do not get sent to Support here so we would have no idea what is going on. Can you please submit up to 5 only include the bp-

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

This looks like a problem with accessing the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history).

signature: Firefox 61.0 Crash Report [@ AsyncShutdownTimeout | Places Connection shutdown | PlacesUtils read-only connection closing as part of Places shutdown ]

Do you have any (security) software running that might be interfering with filed in the profile folder?

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

  • use "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page

Sorry for the delayed reply. Its gotten to that point again so it is not saving bookmarks, it will crash when i shutdown

here is the verify integrity output > Task: checkIntegrity + The database is sane > Task: invalidateCaches + The caches have been invalidated > Task: checkCoherence + The database is coherent > Task: expire + Database cleaned up > Task: vacuum - Unable to vacuum database > Task: stats - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: _refreshUI - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task.

Its not saving bookmarks again, it worked fine 40 mins ago I just ran the verify integrity, got this

> Task: checkIntegrity + The database is sane > Task: invalidateCaches + The caches have been invalidated > Task: checkCoherence + The database is coherent > Task: expire + Database cleaned up > Task: vacuum - Unable to vacuum database > Task: stats - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task. > Task: _refreshUI - The task queue was cleared by an error in another task.

I'm going to restart Firefox and see if it crashes.

It did crash, and that bookmark from 40 mins ago was lost.

Please try refreshing Firefox to see if that corrects the issue. Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

There are a lot of history visits.

  • Table moz_historyvisits has 290977 records

If "Verify Integrity" on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page cannot repair places.sqlite then remove all places.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from a recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
