Hard to explain in one sentence. And it may have more to do with Facebook than Firefox, since I've been having a lot of problems with it lately. I'm running Firefox Quantum, ver. 58.0.1 (64bit) on Windows 7. When I want to comment or react to something on a page I've clicked on from a suggested site running next to my feed (I don't know where these come from, some are ads, some not!) I sometimes get a popup page where I need to sign in to the page, or sign in through FB, etc. Often, however, the page pops up, is blank, then disappears, pops up again, etc. only for a second or less each time! It never stops, I have to leave the page. I managed to capture the URL, (the only thing showing on the page is the number 1) and here it is: https://www.facebook.com/plugins/close_popup.php?

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration in Firefox. Since this feature was added to Firefox it has gradually improved but there are still a few glitches.
