I have add-ons installed, but when I go via the menu to Add-ons (i.e. about:addons) no listing appears, just: 'you have no add-ons of this type installed' ??

Have a number of add-ons installed - see menubar in attached picture - and they function properly. However if I go via the Menu to Add-ons, the about:addons page opens and tells me (in Dutch) that I have no add-ons of this type installed.... which makes for instance switching on or off difficult .... At restarts of Firefox due to updates however I do get all the tabs that ask me to approve or disapprove the installation of all the add-ons I have in Firefox. So, they work, Firefox 'knows' that I have them, but the menu page doesn't show them. I have not found any reference on the net to this issue. Suggestions/solutions are welcome.

PS uploading the image does not work or is exceedingly slow (not finished after more than 3 minutes...) so post is probably without..

Hi

Are you looking in the Extensions option at about:addons?

You might see the "You don't have any add-ons of this type installed" in the Services option. You should see the add-ons that you have installed under Extensions.

After a Fx crash, 2 days ago, and having had to restart, the add-ons are visible again - yes, under 'Extensions' (and yes, I do see the "You don't have any add-ons of this type installed" in the Services option). But, when I signalled the problem the Extensions page was empty except for the "You don't ..." message. The screenshot I have is clear proof, but again doesn't upload here (5+min wait, is 110kB too large?..) It is an intermittant problem - on more occasions in the past this happened and resolved after a while. It's a nuissance for me, not a major problem.

Hi,

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

It is possible that there is a problem with files in the profile folder that store the extensions registry.

Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.

New files will be created when required.

See "Corrupt extension files":

If you see disabled or not compatible extensions in ""3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions" then check if there is a compatibility update available.

  • click the cogwheel button (left of the Search bar) on the about:addons page to "Check for Updates"

If this didn't help then delete add-ons.json and possibly prefs.js in case there is a problem with preferences.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
