I can not connect to sites like Bank of Ireland which I always connected to with Firefox before. No connections are working and I get a pop-up which does not identify itself as Mozilla or Firefox and doesn't seem "right".

I'm going to change my pop-up setting and reinstall Firefox. This is weird. Firefox has always been reliable for me, I wonder if Mozilla/Firefox was hacked.

Can you attach a screenshot?

  • Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot
  • Make sure that you do not exceed the maximum size of 1 MB

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that helps.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
