Why would Firefox all of a sudden open and NOT go to the home page? I saved screenshots of the error, but there is no means by which to send them to you...which is truly dumb!

Hello,

In order to better assist you with your issue please provide us with a screenshot. If you need help to create a screenshot, please see How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem.

Thank you!

You can't attach a screenshot to the first post that starts a thread, but you can do that in subsequent replies.

It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

OK, so here's the screenshots I took of the message I got. I don't understand it at all! Please help me?

Lastly, I did NOT write the title or subject for the reply I sent to support that starts out with "Stupid Support People". I want ALL of you to KNOW it was my 14 year of nephew who was, I thought, typing what I was telling him to. HE ALONE chose that extremely offensive tital. For that I am SO very sorry. Believe me! He has been severely reprimanded and is no longer allowed to TOUCH my computer. Again, I apologize for the offense!

Those messages aren't from Firefox, they are from WindowsXP. Not useful for Firefox troubleshooting purposes.

In Firefox type about:crashes in the Location Bar (where web addresses are typed) and hit Enter.

Do you have any Firefox Crash Reports there? If so, please provide the Crash Report ID's that start with bp-. Check the Date Submitted on the right and provide the latest ID's; we don't need 'em from months or years ago.

What website (URL) do you use for the home page?

Try to start Firefox with the about:blank page by creating a copy of the current Firefox desktop shortcut and add a space and -url "about:blank" to the command line.

It goes to charter.net as my Home Page. Is that the problem?

Well, it sounds from your description that your home page is giving this issue and causes the plugin-container to crash. So a plugin (most likely Flash) is causing this problem.

Did you try to start Firefox with the about:blank page like I suggested?

Try to set the Flash plug to click-to-play by setting the permissions for Flash to "Ask To Activate" in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Plugins". That way you can activate the Flash plugin when you need it via the Lego block icon on the location bar.

If you made permanent changes and allow Flash to run on the page then you can delete the permissions.sqlite file to reset all the Site Permissions.
