Okay, I do save a lot of bookmarks. But I'm not sure how they would ever add up to more than a gigabyte of user data. I already cleared my cache, and there's still 1.37 GB of "user data". The Firefox app doesn't seem to have a way to display a menu selection where I can get it reveal the contents of my "user data", or UD. Interestingly, my UD on my other devices is also gigabytes in size, across devices newer and older devices, and even desktop on Mac OS.

I am loath to delete my UD on my devices without knowing exactly what I'm erasing. And in the app, regarding the bookmark function itself, it seems that all bookmarks are stored locally on the device that they are created on. It's nice that with the sync function in the desktop app that all my bookmarks across all my devices can be ACCESSED using my desktop browser. But to SAVE, those non-local bookmarks would need to be manually opened in my desktop Firefox browser and then re-bookmarked to actually be backed up. Currently, as it stands, if I lose the device or clear the UD, I lose the bookmarks. I verified this situation using my desktop Firefox browser, which shows the root directory of bookmarks which are not locally stored in the desktop Firefox browser as "_other". And, interestingly, even with sync on across all my devices, I still can only see locally stored bookmarks on my cell phone devices; I can only see all synced bookmarks using my desktop Firefox browser.

So what I need to know is, does there exist a good way to quickly save bookmarks from, say, cell phone devices to a desktop version of Firefox, with hard drive space. And, I would also like to know how to access all the data in the UD part of the mobile device and desktop apps, so that I know what data the app is saving, and therefore, what I want to keep and what I want to delete.

I have been using Firefox mobile for many years. Recently I wanted to remove sone pinned websites on my home page. i was told the only way to achieve this was by using the desktop version as the mobile version did not support this action. i installed Firefox onto my laptop but on synchronisation it appears that the laptop has told the mobile that it is a new `setting` and not used the mobile as the `original`. I have now lost all of my bookmarks that i have collected over years on the mobile version. Can you suggest a way of restoring this and telling the laptop to use the mobile settings?

Hi, I'm pretty sure the email I am signed in with now is what was tied to all of my bookmarks in Firefox but I had to do an account recovery and I did not have my key. When I was able to sign back in and hit the sync button nothing updated.

I am really, really hoping I did not lose everything here... is there anyway I can recover my bookmarks/passwords?

So I got myself into a pickle again trying to move my ffox tabs and bookmarks to a different pc. I knew there was something I didn’t like about sync so I avoided that. Until I was having problems transferring my tabs and bookmarks and I relented. Mistake. I had to sign in, not sure why I wasn’t already signed in or why I was signed out. It moved over my tabs fine. But somehow I ended up with some strange list of bookmarks that must be from months ago. If I am stuck I guess I can resurrect what I had although I am not happy at all with this mess. Any way to get back to what I had? It has messed up both the new pc and the original one now. I happened to find some files called session store backups that if that is any good for history those are only for tabs which are fine anyway. Any idea what to do or am I screwed?

I assumed that bookmarks and passwords were tied to my account and that by logging in; I would sync them in automatically. I just reset my Windows 11 and had all files deleted.

I used to do this with Google Chrome, but now that I'm a Firefox user, resetting my PC and logging into Firefox after a fresh download, I have nothing? I cannot find anywhere to sync this back, do I have any hope or did I miss the opportunity?

Hi, I had to reinstall my windows where I thought my Firefox would sync up upon reinstallation. However, nothing would sync up and the best I could do myself was to import pretty out-of-date Chrome data. When I to my firefox account and scroll to connected services I see my last PC name with its firefox login. Is there any way to recover that data and import to my current device? I read you kept sync data as encrypted data on your Mozilla servers, so I hope that's a viable solution.

I have always been logged into Firefox and I know that I had updated my bookmarks but recently I have re-installed my Windows and after logging into firefox all my bookmarks are gone. I don't have a html file and I can't 'upload' them manually.

I was hoping that they would be automatically updated after sign in... All I have are default bookmarks and the last 'sync' is showing today, which is after I re-installed Windows... Is there any way to get them back?

My impression is that everytime Firefox updates I loose my passwords and bookmarks. This happens on my windows and Linux computers. I believe that I'm not signed in to Firefox but not sure. Would not being logged in cause this problem?

I was signed in to my firefox account on my laptop, but then my laptop broke and cannot be recovered. I had my account set up to sync my data (i have email confirmation of this) so I signed in to firefox on my phone to retrieve passwords, bookmarks, etc. I reset my password to enter because I didn’t remember what it was (it was saved on the laptop). But none of my data appears on the mobile app. Is there a way to access my data still?

I recovered them once by choosing a different default profile. Then the next time I opened Firefox both the saved profiles had no passwords.

I can find the referred files on the desktop, but don't see real steps on what to do with them, and if they're the ones in the now password list-less profiles they will be useless anyway.

I really don't know what to do. It seems every time I open Firefox it updates and half the time I lose all my bookmarks, all the time I have no passwords. Right now I have bookmarks but no passwords on the desktop. I have everything on the Android phone only.

I'm on Windows 10 still on the desktop, but my windows 11 surface pro 8 now seems to have lost passwords, too!

Is there a way to download and not lose anything, then import back to desktops?

I'm afraid to sync, in case the desktop takes precedence and erases all my passwords on my phone!

I am seeking assistance with recovering my Firefox data after resetting my laptop.

Before performing the reset, I verified that I was signed into my Firefox account and believed that Firefox Sync was enabled. After reinstalling Firefox and signing back into the same account, my previous data does not appear to be available.

I had to reload firefox after getting xpcom error messages, now i can't work out how to restore my passwords,bookmarks etc from my sync profile that i set up months before.

Being a weird person, I always saved my sites on my firefox browser and for my own reasons, hadn't bookmarked them and always kept them open on tabs to pick up and read at a later date, and as a result, racked up a lot of different tabs that were all very dear to me. However due to a catastrophic hardware failure a few hours ago I lost everything on my local files, including my backups of all the firefox tabs. I was hoping that if there was a remote possiblility that if the sync was able to record tabs, that it would also save all tab information from previous browser sessions.

Hey hey So On my old system I logged into my FF account did 7 syncs just in case whi all were telling that I'll have all of my stuff right away but.... I reinstalled Windows and... installed Firefox and got freaking 00000000 zeeeero tabs or passwords synced.... All of the manual attemps of sync got nothing, absolutely nothing!? So what was the point of online account which does nothing and just give a fake faith??? I would rather do cp -r of local foler as I did for the last 20 years.... But this time I was faked with fake "sync all good" which doesn't work and just fake people

hi. i change my windows and now I need to restore my old setting and bookmark to new pc but i have not any backup file i was thinking my account save all of my data & setting in cloud but now i cant access to my setting and bookmarks

Good afternoon, I restarted my windows computer because it was buggy and right before reinstalling I synced the Firefox account so that whenever I reinstalled Firefox in the PC once more I could have all my bookmarks.

Now while setting up, I find out none were synced? It doesn't appear and obviously I don't have access to the "old" browser to manually download the html file. This was weird because last time I downloaded Firefox in another device and logged into my account it automatically synced and configured everything as it was.

Please advice if there's any way to restore my bookmarks at least because I need them for work.

i have been using firefox for like an year, found out now that the email i used for my account on my browser is wrong, the domain has a typo. Does it mean that now all my passwords are saved on a firefox account i cant even access (i have to still finish the setup, obviously i cant as i cant get a code in an email that doesnt exist) and that i cant remove it, ever? Does firefox sync up stuff on an account without the setup even being done yet? Or is the stuff just saved locally and im good with removing the account?
