Firefox opens full screen on my main monitor, one of three, but not the last-opened and before resizing to its last-used location and size. This three-stage process happens in a instant, interfering with live activity on my main monitor besides being really annoying. Hasn't always behaved this way. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Mike

Shrinking the page has no effect on the sidebar or the drop downs which stay tiny I cannot see tiny letters, I have to use the magnifier to see them & that is very awkward.

Today on my (android) phone I received a Firefox update. I have auto update turned off, so I don't know when it was initially available, but I installed updates on all apps late this morning. It reset all of my privacy and search settings. I first noticed because it was giving me google and firefox suggestions as I typed, and I find all autocomplete/suggestions to be annoying and not helpful, so I have always had this turned off as I NEVER want any suggestions. Finding that I checked my other settings, and found that all AI, Firefox Suggest, and usage/diagnostic data were all turned on which were not earlier in the day. I always have this garbage OFF.

After work I checked all of my devices. All of them are set to update automatically but one. That is the only device that did not reset my privacy and search settings, but as soon as it updated it did. (none of my other settings seem to be impacted, as other things I've changed are still there).

Is this going to be standard practice now? I don't even get notifications when it is updated so how will I know to turn this off? Do I just have to check every day? I did a security check just a week ago and all of my settings were off. I do this every few weeks as windows likes to change my settings and install apps I don't need with updates so I regularly check all my apps privacy settings on my phone and PCs.

Is this a known issue? Is this going to be resolved? I don't like when companies collect my data after I have turned it off.

I have been a long time user of FF and have been puzzled by it's recent failure (to both start, and subsequently re-install) For the last 18 months I have been running Win 12 without problems. That is until last week, when I can only assume the Tuesday udates ( MS) has created havoc. I would appreciate any assistance as I am not fond of MS Edge, or Google Chrome. Dave Hickman.

Hello,

I use a Powershell script to manually install a Firefox update.

Starting with version 128.10.xx and higher, Update.exe expects different parameters, but I'm not sure what the parameter names mean (see screenshot).

Can someone explain to me what I need to pass for “arg-version” and “wich-invocation”? All other parameters were already present in the previous version of Update.exe, and I understand those, but unfortunately I don't know exactly what I need to pass for these two.

Thank you very much in advance for any help.

As stated, when I close browsers usually some random group of tabs, usually at the starting left side, will be moved to the end of tabs. I need to go in and manually select them and send them to the start or manually move them. Sometimes another group that was to the right of the starting tabs shows up in front of those moved to the end. I have 4 working windows with multiple tabs open. When all are closed, say as to reboot, the last one I was in usually is the one effected. Happens probably 7 or 8 times out of 10 closings.

Earlier today there was a one second power outage in my area that obviously turned off my work pc. While helping customers I saw that it was throwing error codes while restarting. After getting it fixed by power cycling the pc. When I would open Firefox it would start loading tabs but when I clicked on anything it would freeze then crash. I tried to power cycle the pc again to no avail. Everything else along with other browsers worked fine. I then uninstalled and reinstalled and it would get to the end of the install and would pop up with hmm for some reason, we could not install Firefox. I have updated all drivers along with windows and nothing has worked. The weird thing is that it makes a desktop short cut that I can open with a get started tab but when clicking on anything it freezes and crashes. I also uninstalled the old Firefox folder to make sure nothing was conflicting and it still doesn't work.

Windows 11 Pro on Lenovo ThinkCentre. I switched to ESR a while back, when the regular and ESR versions coincided. All updates since then have worked fine, until now.

When I allow Firefox to update to 140.3.1esr from 128.14.0esr, then the Firefox browser no longer works at all. It comes up, but entering a URL (by typing or bookmark) does nothing and goes nowhere, so I can't use the internet at all.

I had to use Macrium Reflect to restore my system drive to an earlier time to get back on the internet, using version 128.14.0esr, which lost some recent bookmarks, etc. I have tried this twice, with the same result.

Now, a couple of sites no longer work because they say the browser isn't current.

What can I do about this? I hope I don't have to switch to another browser, because there are Firefox extensions I use all the time. However, I can't use a non-updatable browser indefinitely, because more sites won't work.

Can I fix this?

Thanks for your help, AnneF

The NY Times home page has taken to animating many of their illustrations. I would like to prevent that; they sometimes cause Firefox on my Windows 11 system to freeze for periods of varying length, and I simply don't want them. Their helpbot suggested restarting FF and clearing the cache, both proved useless. Changing the setting in Firefox to block audio & video has no apparent effect. Videos still play from the NYT page and the browser still freezes. Is there a way?

firefox is not displaying all characters on a page. Then, the missing characters suddenly get filled in. I have disabled all extensions thinking that is the probable problem, and it seems to work short term. But then it start up again. Have to reload a page, and sometimes THAT doesn't even work. Yesterday, I removed and reinstalled firefox. It was OK for about 1 hour, but now the problem is back. It only seems to be firefox (default browser). Now, hope this helps. I just got an email (Thunderbird) with no content except for a black block then appears and disappears. Have you ever heard of these things happening? P.S. As I type this, characters are starting to disappear....Oh! There back now. Chrome does not seem to have this issue, but I rarely us it (browser of last resort). Microsoft edge browser started intruding about 3 months ago. Comes up as my default browser? (I do not load it ever!). Things are getting really screwy. Hope you can help. P.S.S. as I get ready to send this to you, about 25% of what I have typed is no longer showing.

When opening Netflix or Amazon Prime in Firefox 143.0.4 (64-bit) my display shuts off. This does not happen when viewing other video websites like Twitch or Youtube.

I can switch to another display port on my video card to get my display back, however, if I go back to either of those websites and login my display shuts off again. This does not happen in other browsers; I have tested Chrome and Brave. I have disabled hardware acceleration with no change in behavior. I have reset the settings of my browser with no change in behavior. I have disabled and re-enabled the privacy setting "Play DRM controlled content" with no change in behavior.

Why is Firefox shutting off my display when going to these websites?

When browsing, I sometimes (more often than not) get a Secure Connection Failed message. The Try Again tab clears the problem sometimes (not that often). This problem has just started happening in the last week, during which I have not made changes to any settings in Firefox. This problem does not exist using other search engines for the same site that I am trying to access, and I note that I also get this same failure when trying to access some Firefox webpages. Is there a fix to this other than contacting the web site owner, which I doubt is the cause of the problem, or for ease and simplicity should I just change to another search engine that does not have the problem?

On Windows 11 laptops, I am currently using an Acer Nitro w/ 12th gen Intel i5 16GB RAM, I use my touch pad for scrolling on sites with infinite scrolling. Occasionally this function breaks, when it does it breaks for every tab in the browser window including the setting, I haven't found a singular or specific cause yet. I have troubleshooted it in the community, the prevailing logic being that themes or extensions are causing some incompatibility, so I have reset everything to defaults and made sure I have no extensions loaded, and the problem persists. I can temporarily fix the issue by going into my settings and turning hardware acceleration on and off again. I am writing this to hopefully point out this bug as clearly as possible in hopes that your programmers can fix it in a future update, as repeatedly turning a setting on and off to "fix" it might not be the best solution in the long term.
