Why did you switch the "open in new tab" and "open in new window" when you right click on a link? This only happened with the latest release

That was a Mozilla developer decision. The contributors helping you here are not the developers. If I recall correctly, that change was made in Firefox 4.
To change that you can try this extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/menu-editor

I always thought mozilla was better. Changing a button that has been that way for years is like a car manufacture changing the turn signals direction.
All uncompensated volunteers here just trying to help other users.
It took me a short while to adjust to the change. Now when I use the older 3.6.24 version, which I have installed in addition to Firefox 8 and Firefox 9beta, I find myself expecting "Open in New Tab" to precede "Open in New Window".
The only problem that I can see with the Add-on is that, if the developer stops updating it, then you must learn the new order in the menu anyway. So.....your decision on that.
