text position
Version 5.0.1 on Windows-7 All settings are default.
1) Text in website is 1 pix off-position (hor & vert) 2) That same text is not crispy
Does occur only on certain pc´s
Can be solved by installing an older FF version (ie: 3.6 etc)
Remarks: Interesting is that problem dont occur on other computers which also use Windows-7 or Vista and FF 5.0.1
As a webdesigner myself i dont want to resolve to change any settings and leave everything default ...but i tried anyway and cant solve it. "cleartype" settings dont solve it since the off-position is a full 1 px to low (vertical) and probably even more in the horizontal plane
Reproduce:
a) Using FF 5.0.1 (Windows-7)Go to my website: http://tinyurl.com/3ps78ot b) Observe the text in the menu-buttons and elsewhere. 3) Now do same with IE and Chrome 4) In IE and Chrome it is correct..in FF is not correct.
Since this is all using default settings it effectively ruins my website, i´m amazed how you can intruduce such a bug.
Please solve it

Another good place to ask questions and advice about web development is at the mozillaZine Web Development/Standards Evangelism forum.

It looks that Firefox uses a different method than other browsers to handle the difference in font size.
In Firefox it looks OK if I set the font-size of that DIV (.dfltt) to 10px.
I only have Google Chrome on Linux as an alternative and there it looks good with font-size:11px and it shifts upwards or downwards if I decrease or increase that font-size.
If I zoom the page then I also see alignment differences (shifts up and down).
Thanks
Im not shure what you are doing or proving with those fontsizes You dont state what configuration you are doung things so i doint know how to validate your info.
Its interesting how no-one in this thread is prepared to mention his configuration...not even when i specificly indicate that in this case that is most important.
And what difference in fontsize are you talking about ? theres no problem with any differences at all ...the only problem is that FF5 or FF6 positions any text of any style or size at a 1 pixel to low position While all browsers do it correct FF5 /6 doesn´t on my configuration.
I have shown my page is standard
Its useless to do all this guessing as long as no-one can confirm my bug using same configuration as i have (Windows7/Nvidea.FF6)
Now i have to file a bug ... which probably ends up in a incredible long list of bugs all the work is shifted to me ..i thinkj this bug ios seruous enough and if i was a regular support-guy i would have passed this bug.
Maybe im spoiled...when i say that this forum is no good and that i´m not taken serious and that i have to solve it all myself and that those that should reproduce this bug have less tools then i do.
Im tired of it..4 weeks and still nothing but disbelief and blaming on me. do you all think i have nothing better to do then posting endlessly in a whole range of fora.
.
.
I was talking about these font-sizes
.dfltt { font-family: Verdana, sans-serif; font-size: 11px; } #Oobj176 { position: absolute; font-size: 10px; } #Oobj365 { position: absolute; font-size: 10px; }
Changing the font size in .dfltt to a different value (8-13) makes the hyphens go up or down and 10 lines them for me.
Yes it does occur in FF3.6 . I'm running Win. 7 SP1 64bit on a new computer I recently bought. I first installed FF 7 which I was using on my old vista system. Now with Win. 7 i've tried different FF versions & the text is a mess with all of them. Seems the're just not compatible. I think Microsoft just wants everyone to have to use IE.
