Is there a workaround to this non-functional setting in 4.0rc1? Since the first FF 4.0 beta, browser.tabs.tabMinWidth has not been respected. In 3.6.x, I regularly use >18 tabs, with browser.tabs.tabMinWidth= 20, where the favicon differentiates the tabs. Win XP Pro SP3, 1GB RAM Screenshot: http://imgur.com/JCxqz

That pref is no longer supported. In Firefox 4 you need to use CSS code in userChrome.css to set a minimum width for tabs.

Thanks. That was quick! It's good to see the rationalization of chrome into CSS, but IMHO min Tab Width should be adjustable in Tools/Options/Tabs because it so directly affects the user experience.
