How to show UNREAD mail on each folder, in TB 140.5.0 on Windows 11?
I've got 2 PC, both on the same version of W11 Home and TB?
On my PC that was install in 2020, I can see on each folder and sub-folder unread mail, total mail, and size of that folder (see uploaded image). On my wife's PC, installed in March of this year, only can show the total mail and folder size?
I've Googled how to do that and of course there is no such steps I can do?

To show the unread message count in Thunderbird's folder pane, click the three dots icon ( ...) at the top right of the folder pane header and select "Folder Pane Columns" or "Show total message count". Some versions may also allow you to enable this view by right-clicking on the folder pane header and selecting "Folder Pane Columns," then choosing to show "Total" and "Unread".

Right off the bat, no "Folder Pane Columns"???
I suspect somehow this was removed from TB, so new installs this year can't get to it?
I can't even get to that on my PC from 2020 to turn them off?
Is/was there another way? Doesn't seem I have an ADD-ON to do that and I can't locate one that would do it?
Is there an answer to this or is this just the way it is (not)?

The last version that had 'Folder Pane Columns' and which showed number of unread mails was 102 - shown in the status bar at the bottom right. All newer versions show number of new messages, total number of messages, and size.
Ed,
Your answer confuses me? Not what I asked about.
I am NOT talking about the Status bar, but as in my included screen capture, the folder name, and to the right, the BLUE Unread, the total of messages in the Folder, and the Folder size.
On my wife's PC I can only get the total message count?
I can add the folder size but NOT the BLUE UNREAD count... on EACH folder line.
Does that make it clearer?
I did SEE you said " All newer versions show number of new messages, total number of messages, and size.", which is what I want though?
So, WHY is it not happening on my wife's PC? Is it a PROFILE problem?

I don't know if it's a profile problem yet.
What versions of TB are yours and your wife's?
Does Unread appear in Troubleshoot mode?

Ed,
No, Troubleshooting mode did not fix it, from the Troubleshooting info:

Have you verified that your wife actually does have new (unread) messages? Only Total and Size appear if that's the case.
Yes. you can select an Inbox and watch the new mail come in when you fetch it off the server.
She also has new messages colored red. Once read, it returns to the normal light black. Mine has the mail come in dark black and once read turns to light black...
I assume all this is either a setting or in the Profile.
I was able to poke around in the settings but not sure how that was done, she has no add-ons it seems. I probably did it for her ages ago? The Profile has been copied many times as the PC have been replaced.

Messages colored red? That might be from some user-generated CSS, but that would be disabled in Troubleshoot mode. Is it set in the Fonts settings?
OK Ed, solved why RED colored...
I misread here Inbox. She'll delete anything that came in she didn't want, and then TAGS the others RED (Important). I assumed they were the last to come in, hence unread.
There has to be a difference between out TB installations? Her's is newer, last done in March, but profiles were copied over from the old PC and the entire PROFILES folder as well.
If I 'knew' what controls the blue Unread count, I could check my install and see if her PC has the same?
This may not be what you want, but I'll share. If you rightclick the unified toolbar and tick 'customize', you can drag the icon titled 'View' to it. That lets you toggle between read and unread and other options.
Thanks Ed, but that doesn't work?
I follow your instructions, fine VIEW, and DRAG it and it shows where it will go,but shows up as ALL????
No reasonable choice there? See below...
Perplexed?
MY BAD!!!!
See, my wife uses TB differently... SHE looks at EVERY EMAIL that comes in. She either deletes them or tags them. So she has NO UNREAD messages in her inbox.
Occasionally she has asked for help and that was when I noticed no UNREAD... so thinking she uses it like me, we both have MailWasher Pro and I use it to PREVIEW my email so I don't need to read them in TB, she uses Mail Washer Pro differently, only to remove spam email, so the first time she sees the email content is in TB...
Oh well, SORRY, but all is well here... and I did waste some time myself looking how to enable it or how is was enabled.... 😒
