I receive email properly. I cannot send email from jim.walker@ieee.org. This became a problem when IEEE switched from providing the filtering and forwarding service to using gmail. I have followed all of the help procedures on Mozilla with no luck. The first image shows the error message when I try to send from Thunderbird. Thunderbird is up to date. The second image shows the same test email sent from the gmail website in which the "reply to" looks strange to me. The third image is Advanced Account Settings under jim.walker@ieee.org. I can send email from my company web site account but I would like to reply to email on my personal account as well.

Your first picture shows smpt.gmail.com, which indicates a typo in your settings. It should be smtp.gmail.com (port 465, SSL/TLS, OAuth2, email address).

it may help to post a screenshot of your SMTP server settings pane for the account, since that is what controls sending. thanks.

Thank you, Thank you. That did solve the problem. When I made that correction, then Oauth became a choice which, of course, I selected. I tried to send a test message several times without success until I closed the "account settings" window which must have saved the changes. Again, thank you.
