I recently installed Linux mint 22.1 and the first package I installed was Thunderbird. I proceeded with account creation and Thunderbird picked up on the configuration required. IMAP/SMTP Microsoft MS challenged for authentication password which I provided and my mails downloaded to Thunderbird.

When trying to send email - Authentication fails so I cannot send emails. Is it me, Microsoft or Thunderbird? The message: Login to server smtp.office365.com with username ******* failed.

I can receive mails no problem.
