I have started using Thunderbird again. I donated. But each time I start the application, I get a donate webpage on Firefox Then the first message shown in the email is to donate. How do I get rid of those as it is annoying..

I am not sure exactly what you are seeing, but you might click settings>general and untick the box for the Thunderbird startup page.
