Are you really saying that the view changes by itself from unthreaded to threaded ? I have never seen this and can't imagine how it could happen; do you have more details on how it happens ?

Yes, that is what he is saying. I have changed mailnews.default_view_flags to 0 and set the View -> Sort by to unthreaded and this morning, all on its own Thunderbird decided to change the sort by to threaded.
