You can do it in Windows ( in W10 it's Settings/ Apps & Features/ Default Apps) BUT the site below has a Make FF Default button to Clk; https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/set-as-default/

In FF Settings/ General Tab/Startup/ Clk BOX: Always Chk if FF is Default. I presume If No at the time, you'd be offered a Clk.
