I'm really upset! The new v79 has half the features and sync wasn't running: always shows "last sync on 1970" and didn't let me select what to sync. I cleared the cache, not solved... I cleared all my data, reconfigured, but still no sync! So I removed the app and manually installed the old one. Guess what? It still doesn't sync!!! Now I'm left with the Firefox I know and love but I can't use it because I have NO credentials and no bookmarks... I would like to kick someone...

Hi

I understand that Firefox Sync did not connect to your mobile device on this occasion, but hopefully I should be able to help you force a Sync event to take place.

Assuming you have connected the same Sync account on both your mobile and desktop copies of Firefox:

In Firefox on your desktop device:

  1. Go into the Settings menu and select Firefox Account.
  2. Tap on Synchronise now.

This will “force” a synchronisation of the data that is on the desktop device storage. If you then restart your mobile device it should pick up your syncced data when you optn Firefox for Android.

Hi

Do you have your data stored on another copy of Firefox?

Of course! I have sync enabled on both my laptop and desktop. Both running an ESR version because I can't loose any plugins... ...but I don't understand how this can solve the sync not running on Android...

Wow! My phone (that I am using right now) has just synchronized! I guess that this new rollout put a lot of pressure on Firefox servers... Good, now I stop the automatically update from store and I will happily use my v68 for a very long time!

Well, that's what I did on my laptop just after having installed v68 on my phone!

I can login to my account on the phone but it does not sync even doing this and the device does not show up in the device list. This does not work. Only a "web session" appears and nothing ever syncs and all the options on the phone regarding anything to do with it are greyed out.

Chosen solution does not work for me. The Android device name appears in under Device & Apps in my Firefox account but sync does not happen.

I have the same problem. It says the devices are connected, but nothing is syncing. I've tried forcing it on both ends multiple times, logging in and out, unsyncing and resyncing multiple times--all to no avail.

I use Samsung S10e, and I saw someone else had the same issue, but that they got it resolved. Not so, for me.

When I open the Account Settings page on my phone, at the top, under Sync now, it says "Never synced". When I then try to sync it says "Last synced: Dec 31, 1969" and nothing has changed. On my laptop it says it has synced--though it apparently hasn't--and on both devices I can choose what to sync.

This has been going on for at least a couple days. I believe since the newest large update, which explains it, because updates always screw something up. Large or small, something always goes wrong. But THIS. This is unexcusable. I rely on the sync far more than I realized, before now, and if it continues to fail I may be forced to return to using Chrome, simply because syncing is so unavoidably vital to my usage of the internet.

As I wrote before forcing the sync from the pc side I have removed the newest Firefox app on the phone and installed the last v68! ...then disabled the auto update on Play Store...
