I have renamed the profile folder. I have set t-bird as default in t-bird and control panel. Thanks T-bird keeps asking me to set it as the default email (which I want to do). But then it creates a new profile folder. When I use run> thunderbird.exe -P it resets to the correct profile folder and my email works fine. But when I restart T-bird I get the rest question again. Thanks

Matt thanks. Could you guide me?

just tell it to allow Thunderbird to be the default for mail, it will update the registry and shut up on future occasions.

Note that if you're using another mail program it to will probably be performing the same checks and may well do the same update every time you open it. Outlook I find particularly hard to stop from checking if it is the default.
