I want to stop recording search history but keep form history. Search history is only useful for tracking. When I do a search I either find what I am looking for or I don't find it. In either case I will never use that search again. The only reason for search history is tracking. I want to eliminate search history but keep form history. Why are they linked?

In a lot of cases a search form has the autocomplete=off attribute. This is the case on the about:home and about:newtab pages, but not if you use the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar. So you can consider to use one of those pages instead or use the (Google) website.
