Thunderbird: How can I add "color text" option to toolbar?
I have the "highlight" button on my tool bar but not "text color" and have been unable to figure out how to add it. I can't drag and drop it. I use it a lot and it is inconvenient to go to "format" every time.

You need to be writing using HTML, but I think you must be if you're able to get text colour via the menu.
Start an HTML message. In the write window's menu, View|Toolbars and make sure Formatting Bar is ticked.
No menu? Hold down the alt key and press v.

It was totally my fault. The formatting bar is shown. I, however, hovered over it and "highlighting" appeared. I didn't realize that both background and text are in the same square. But, thank you--I discovered it with your response.
